TRENT 3, CAMBRIAN 1

ANCASTER, Ont. - While the gold medal match-up at the 2015 OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship has been set since Friday night, the bronze medal match-up required a lot of volleyball to be played on Saturday morning before settling on the game's competing teams. The morning matches saw the Trent Excalibur advance past the Cambrian Golden Shield and the Niagara Knights knock off the host Redeemer Royals to set up the bronze final.

Trent's Sarah MacLaren dominated the early morning match with 17 kills and eight blocks to push the Excalibur through the first bronze semi-final. Trent needed four sets to defeat the Cambrian Golden Shield 25-21, 14-25, 25-19 and 25-18. It will be familiar territory for the Peterborough, Ont., side as Trent participated in the bronze medal match at last year's OCAA provincial championship. The Excalibur defeated the Redeemer Royals to claim the bronze medal then and will be looking for some more hardware this time around.

The host Redeemer Royals were hoping to get another shot at a bronze medal against Trent but the Niagara Knights had other plans. The Knights jumped out to an early 2-0 lead against Redeemer in the second bronze semi-final of the day and were able to hold on for a 3-1 win against the feisty home side. Set scores for the match were 25-16, 25-19, 16-25 and 25-23.

Niagara's Lucy McLay had 15 kills in the win for the Knights.

The bronze medal match will now see the No. 2 team from the east and the No. 2 team in the west square off for third place in the OCAA provincial championship.
