FANSHAWE 3, ST. CLAIR 2

LONDON, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's volleyball team travelled up the 401 to London, Ont., on Tuesday night to take on the Fanshawe Falcons.

The St. Clair women suffered a tough loss to the Falcons by a match score of 3-2. The set scores for Fanshawe were 23-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19 and 15-12. Kaila Crough led the way offensively for the Saints with 12 kills, one service ace, one block and six digs.

With the loss, the Saints record fell to 11-5 on the season while Fanshawe improved to 9-7. The St. Clair women are currently ranked third in the OCAA and sit in third place in the OCAA West Division while Fanshawe is ranked sixth and in fourth place.

Saints newcomer Angela Evans (Panama) was named the OCAA Women's Volleyball Athlete of the week on Tuesday as well. Evans contributed a match-high 20 points on 15 kills, three blocks and two service aces in St. Clair's five-set victory at Redeemer on Feb. 24. Since joining St. Clair this semester, Evans is averaging 3.5 points per set in five matches.

The St. Clair women are next in action on Saturday, Feb. 11 when they host the Cambrian Golden Shield at the SportsPlex at 2 p.m. The match will be live streamed on www.we-tv.ca.

St. Clair plays host to the OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship presented by belairdirect from Feb. 24-26. As host the Saints are guaranteed a spot in the event. St. Clair will play its first match on Friday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m.
