DURHAM 3, NIAGARA 1

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Niagara Knights took on the Durham Lords but couldn't pull off the upset in the first semi-final game of the OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship presented by belairdirect held at the St. Clair College SportsPlex on Saturday night.

The Lords, 18-0 during the regular season, managed to hang on for the win, taking the first two sets 25-20 and 25-17  before the Knights came back winning the third 25-22. However, the Lords advanced to the final with a 25-21 victory in the fourth.

The Knights were 15-3 in the regular season, and last year's OCAA silver medalists. They were led by Rachel Rivers who had 12 kills and 10 digs and was named Player of the Game for the Knights.

For the Lords, Shannon Dean was named Player of the Game with 18 kills, three service errors and one stuff block. The OCAA Player of the Year Allison Marshall had 14 kills, two service aces and one block for the Lords as well.

Durham advances to the gold medal game which will be played on Sunday at 5 p.m. against the winner of St. Clair and Humber while Niagara contends for bronze at 2:30 p.m. against the loser.
