OCAA WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL QUARTER-FINAL ROUND

The Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) quarter-finals matches have been set for women's volleyball, with four sudden death matches taking place this weekend.

Eight teams are one step closer to earning their ticket to the OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship, taking place at the home of the highest remaining seed between Feb. 23-25.

Algonquin (9-9, 5th East) vs. Seneca (17-1, 1st East)
Saturday, Feb. 17 - 1 p.m.

The Algonquin Wolves came through on the road with a four-set win over the Mohawk Mountaineers last weekend, and will play a familiar foe in East Division rival Seneca Sting on Saturday. Third-year right side Natasha Lauzon (London) averaged 3.1 points and 2.44 kills per set during the regular season for the Wolves.

Seneca right side Jess Garcia (Philippines) has had a strong first-year campaign, averaging 3.6 points and 3.00 kills per set over a dozen matches during the regular season.

The Sting have won 14 straight, including the post-season. Seneca defeated Algonquin twice during the regular season, with one match going to a fifth and deciding set.

Durham (14-4, 3rd East) vs. St. Clair (16-2, 2nd West)
Saturday, Feb. 17 - 1 p.m.

It is another round in the Sledgehammer Series as the Durham Lords visit the St. Clair Saints, this time with a championship berth on the line.

St. Clair's second-year setter Emma Clements (Windsor) led all West Division players during the regular season averaging 7.94 assists per set.

Third-year middle Amanda Larsen (Toronto) of Durham, the reigning OCAA silver medalists, led all OCAA student-athletes during the regular season averaging 1.17 blocks per set.

Niagara (11-7, 3rd West) vs. Loyalist (14-4, 2nd East)
Saturday, Feb. 17 - 1 p.m.

Medieval times is about to hit Belleville as the Niagara Knights take on the Loyalist Lancers. No horses are expected to take part in the festivities.

Loyalist's fifth-year outside hitter Allyson Terwillegar (Enniskillen) led all East Division players averaging 3.50 kills per set during the regular season, while third-year setter Georgi Williams (Oshawa) led all OCAA student-athletes averaging 8.03 assists per set.

First-year middle blocker Sam Cormier (St. Catharines) of Niagara led the West Division during the regular season averaging 0.79 blocks per set.

Conestoga (9-9, 5th West) vs. Humber (18-0, 1st West)
Saturday, Feb. 17 - 6 p.m.

The Humber Hawks, the two-time reigning provincial champions, have now won 19 straight matches in 2023-24 OCAA competition, dropping only two sets during this stretch.

Humber third-year left side Erika Dodd (Uxbridge) averaged 4.1 points and 3.28 kills per set during the regular season.

The Conestoga Condors pulled off the five-set comeback on the road against the Canadore Panthers last weekend. Conestoga first-year outside hitter Rachael O'Dell (Cambridge) led all OCAA student-athletes averaging 4.6 points and 3.69 kills per set during the regular season.

Humber swept the regular season series against Conestoga winning twice in straight sets.
