CZUCHNICKI, DEWITT TOP MOHAWK RUNNERS AT PROVINCIALS

KING CITY, Ont. - The Mohawk men's cross country team finished a solid fifth, among 20 teams, at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Cross Country Championships in King City, Ont., on Saturday. Fanshawe took the men's team competition.

In individual results, Riley Olesky of Fleming was the winner. He was timed in 27:53 - a mere six seconds ahead of Fanshawe's Seth Marcaccio, in the field of 122, of which, 121 finished the eight kilometre distance.

Mohawk's top runner was Adam Cole Czuchnicki, who finished 21st in 29:59.

Mohawk women finished ninth out of 14 teams. Humber took the women's team honour.

Individually, Lindsay Webster of Humber led the field of 86, clocking 20:38 for the five kilometre distance. She was 40 seconds in front of Fanshawe's Nicole Bernardi.

The leading Mountaineer was Ashlee DeWitt in 21st place in a time of 23:22.

The OCAA championships were hosted by Seneca College.

The top performers will be off to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association championships Nov. 7-8 in Calgary.
