ST. CLAIR WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNS TO TEAM GOLD IN SAULT

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - The St. Clair College cross country team competed in their second event of the season Saturday morning at the Sault College Invitational in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., at Crimson Ridge Golf Club. The meet featured nine OCAA schools along with an OUA school and will be the host site of the OCAA Championships Oct. 31. The St. Clair women proved to be the standard winning team title.

For the second meet this season second-year runner Natalie Omahen (Tecumseh/St. Anne) ran to a bronze medal finish and completed the five kilometre course in a time of 21:47 for the Saints. The other female finishers for St. Clair were Meghan Howell (ninth place, 23:29), Ashley Bracci (14th place, 24:04), Victoria Horrobin (16th place, 24:31), Elizabeth Horrobin (18th place, 25:48), and Sarah Duic (20th place, 25:57) in a field of 39 runners.

The men's team for St. Clair were led again by rookie runner Joaquim Lourenco (Harrow/St. Thomas of Villanova) who was 17th in a time of 32:15 in a field of 51 runners over the eight kilometre course. Other finishers for the Saints were Justin Folkeringa (26th place, 34:55), Dante Lapico (36th place, 36:20), Tyler Snyder (42nd place, 37:17), Joseph Gignac (45th place, 38:44) and Walter Papak (47th place, 39:18).

The St. Clair cross country team will next be competing at the Seneca College Invitational on Oct. 17 in King City.
