MEDAL HAUL CONTINUES FOR ST. CLAIR WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

KING CITY, Ont. - The St. Clair College cross country team travelled to Seneca College in King City, Ont., over the weekend to compete in their third meet of the season. Once again, the Saints women's team garnered both a team medal and an individual medal on Saturday.

Second-year runner Natalie Omahen (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) captured the first gold medal of her collegiate career against 81 other runners over the five kilometre course. This is Omahen's third individual medal in three races this season.

The women's team won the silver medal which is also their third team medal in as many races.  Ashley Bracci (14th place, 23:06), Meghan Howell (25th place, 24:51), Tori Horrobin (26th place, 25:00), Beth Horrobin (28th place, 25:17) and Sara Duic (51st place, 27:07) all contributed to the medal.

The best finisher for the men's team was rookie runner Joaquim Lourenco (Harrow, Ont./St. Thomas of Villanova) who placed 24th in a time of 31:09 over the eight kilometre course in a field of 103 runners.

Other finishers on the men's side for St. Clair were Justin Folkeringa (37th place, 32:00), Dante Lapico (56th place, 34:07), Joseph Gignac (79th place, 36:35), Tyler Snyder (81st Place, 36:40) and Walter Papak (98th place, 42:19) who finished in 11th spot as a team.

The St. Clair cross country team now prepares for the OCAA provincial championships Oct. 31 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., at Crimson Ridge Golf Club hosted by Sault College.
