ST. CLAIR WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY QUALIFY FOR NATIONALS

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - The St. Clair College women's cross country team narrowly missed a podium finish at the OCAA provincial championships in Sault St. Marie, Ont., on Saturday hosted by Sault College. Tied for third place the Saints lost a tie-breaker and fell to the fourth spot but will still compete at the CCAA national championship being run at St. Lawrence College in Brockville, Ont., on Nov. 14.

Second-year runner Natalie Omahen (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne) also just missed the podium with a fourth-place finish in a time of 21:16 over the five kilometre course at Crimson Ridge Golf Club in a field of 88 runners. Ashley Bracci (Windsor, Ont./Vincent Massey) had her finest performance of the season with a 14th place finish in a time of 22:09. Omahen was named an OCAA first-team all-star while Bracci was named a second-team all-star.

Beth Horrobin (30th place, 23:49), Tori Horrobin (33rd place, 23:56), Sara Duic (50th place, 25:07) and Meghan Howell (53rd place, 25:18) rounded out the other Lady Saints finishers.

The St. Clair men's team were led by Justin Folkeringa (Windsor, Ont./Riverside) who finished in 43rd Place in a time of 31:16 over the eight kilometre course in a field of 100 runners. Joaquim Lourenco (Harrow, Ont./St. Thomas of Villanova) finished right behind him in 44th place in a time of 31:17. Dante Lapico (65th place, 32:49), Joseph Gignac (87th place, 36:31), Tyler Snyder (91st place, 37:13) and Walter Papak (94th place, 40:00) were the remaining finishers for the Saints men who finished in 14th spot as a group.
