FANSHAWE MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM WINS OCAA SILVER

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - The Fanshawe men's and women's cross country teams competed in the OCAA provincial championships on Saturday at Sault College.

On the men's side, Fanshawe captured the OCAA silver medal. Leading the Falcons on the day was Seth Marcaccio (26:42), narrowly missing out on the victory by one second, but claiming an individual OCAA silver medal.

Ryan Foott (27:35) was close behind with a strong finish in fourth place. Josh Heuving (29:34) finished in 23rd, while Jamie McNorgan (29:52) and Kevin Dann (30:47) rounded out the men's side with their best performances of the year, finishing in 25th and 36th place, respectively. The team finished with 52 points, 10 points behind Humber College. Marcaccio was named to the men's all-Ontario first-team.

On the women's side, Fanshawe veteran Morgan Hendriks led the way for the Falcons. She had her best race of the season on the demanding course, finishing in 12th with a time of 21:58. Laura Travaglini was the next Falcon across the line in a time of 24:07 for 37th place. The women finished eighth overall in the team standings. Hendriks was named to the women's all-Ontario second-team.

The men's team will travel to Brockville, Ont., for the CCAA national championships on Saturday, Nov. 14.
