GEORGIAN CROSS COUNTRY BATTLES HEAT AT FLEMING

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's cross country teams battled incredibly hot conditions as they took part in the Fleming Invitational on Sunday in Peterborough, Ont.

First-year runner Jessica Roach (Orillia) had a good day finishing as the top Georgian runner in 14th place overall in the women's six kilometre race. Teammate Meaghan Evon (Barrie) also finished inside the Top 30 with a 27th place finish.

Overall the women's team finished in sixth place at the event.

Tyler Thomson (Bracebridge) was the top Grizzlies runner in the men's eight kilometre race side finishing in 29th place. Gill Garrido (Bracebridge) and Aurel Fox (Sudbury) were right behind finishing in 34th and 35th, respectively.

The Grizzlies will be back in action this coming Saturday, Sept. 30 when they take part in the Seneca Invitational in King City, Ont.
