MICHAEL DUGGAN RETURNS TO DURHAM GOLF AS HEAD COACH

OSHAWA, Ont. - One of the most successful varsity coaches in Durham College history, Michael Duggan, will return to the Lords golf program as head coach, having previously led the program from 1997 to 2013.

"I'm thrilled to jump back into this role with the Lords golf program," said Duggan. "It's a familiar position for me, but I know there will be a whole new set of challenges. I've seen the landscape of college athletics change from six years ago and I'm absolutely excited to face these new challenges head on."

On the men's side the Durham Lords captured five provincial titles, while earning a medal in six straight Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) championships under the guidance of Duggan from 2001 to 2006. He parlayed that provincial success to the national level as well, guiding the men's squad to three straight Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) silver medals from 2004 to 2006, and national bronze in 2002 and 2012.

A program highlight, the Durham Lords women's team also found incredible success under Duggan, capturing back-to-back CCAA gold medals in 2010 and 2011. He was named both OCAA and CCAA coach of the year in 2010. The women also reached the national podium in 2005, earning silver, and 2004 with a bronze.

Internationally, he has coached Team Canada at the World International University Sports Federation (FISU) Games, including serving as head coach in 2012 in the Czech Republic.

Duggan will also continue in his athletic department role as sport coordinator for Lords baseball, softball, rugby, and basketball, alongside serving as the Lords IAASP coordinator.

Joining his staff will be former Durham Lords standout, Craig Conroy. A 2016 graduate of Durham College's marketing program, the golf team alumnus helped lead the Lords to back-to-back CCAA national championship appearances in 2014 and 2015.
