CORRIVEAU NAMED OCAA GOLF COACH OF THE YEAR

CORRIVEAU NAMED OCAA GOLF COACH OF THE YEAR

TORONTO - Kevin Corriveau of the St. Clair Saints is the 2023 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Coach of the Year.

A long-time member of the OCAA coaching fraternity, Corriveau led the Saints men's team to a bronze medal and the women's team to second place at the recent OCAA championships. For the men, it marked a first OCAA Division I team medal since 2007.

All five St. Clair men's golfers placed in the Top 25 at the tournament, including Spencer Higginbottom (Lakeshore; eighth), Owen Laverty (Whitby; 11th), Simon Moir (London; tied 12th), John Van Bilsen (Glencoe; tied 17th) and Nate Woods (Belleville; 22nd). Shannon Coffey (Windsor) finished fourth in the women's competition, earning All-Ontario status.

A CPGA Class A Golf Professional, Corriveau is a full-time faculty member at St. Clair College in the Sport & Recreation Management program. Corriveau also volunteers as an Academic Advisor for all St. Clair varsity athletes. Corriveau has also been a key member of host organizing committees for several provincial and national championships while at St. Clair.

Members of the All-Ontario Teams were previously announced based on the top five men's and top four women's individual scorers from provincials. They include Ben Landers (Delaware) of the Fanshawe Falcons, and Matt Morris (St. Catharines), Trey Ross (Winnipeg, Man.), Daniel Talmage (Toronto), Ryan Holwell (St. John's, Nfld.) and Matt Bremer (Toronto), all of the Humber Hawks, on the men's side. The women's team is comprised of Humber's Hayley McCallum (Mississauga), Bryden Dilley (Barrie) of the Georgian Grizzlies, Humber's Madison Ouellette (Amaranth) and St. Clair's Coffey.

First-year student-athlete Kate Maxwell (Peterborough) of the Loyalist Lancers was named the OCAA Fair Play Award winner for determination, supportive nature, and good sportsmanship.

Corriveau, who is OCAA's nominee for national golf coach of the year, will now lead the Saints into the 2023 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf National Championships, presented by PING. The event takes place at the Lorette Golf Club in Quebec City from Oct. 16-20.
