The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) handed out its
year end hardware to its men's and women's soccer player Thursday
in Ottawa at the championship banquet at Algonquin College. Will
Beauge of the Algonquin Thunder and Ashley Docking of the Seneca
Sting were named respective OCAA Players of the Year for their
outstanding seasons on the pitch.
Beauge, a third year player from Ottawa, led the East Region in
scoring this season and was named an OCAA League All-star for the
second consecutive year. This is Beauge's first All-Canadian nod.
In 2007, he was named a CCAA Championship All-star. Noel Ellerton
(George Brown) and Andrew DaSilva (Humber) were also nominated as
CCAA All-Canadians.
A midfielder from Scarborough, Ashley Docking, had an outstanding
year offensively notching 18 goals and playing an instrumental roll
in her teams 9-1-1 record. This is her second League All-Star
selection and her first All-Canadian nomination. Joanna Alexopulos,
a fourth year Humber Hawks defender, was also nominated as an
All-Canadian nominee.
