ST. CLAIR'S MALBASIC BREAKS CAREER OCAA SCORING RECORD

AMHERSTBURG, Ont. - St. Clair College men's soccer player Rob Malbasic tied and broke the OCAA career men's goal scoring record on Tuesday afternoon in Amherstburg during the Saints match against the Lambton Lions. The Saints defeated the Lions by a score of 5-1. Malbasic, a Windsor native and St. Joseph's graduate, tied the record during the 6th minute of the first half on a nice header off of a cross. It was his 47th career goal. He then scored late in the first half to break the record and score is 48th career goal in the OCAA.  To top off his record breaking day Malbasic scored in the 75th minute to make it a hat trick. Malbasic is competing in his fifth and final season for the Saints. The other goal scorers for St. Clair were Brian Santos and Ante Ivcec.
 
The previous record holder was OCAA  Hall of Famer Mike Everson from Fleming College. Malbasic's best seasonal output came in 2009-10 when he scored 17 goals and won the OCAA scoring championship. Malbasic was also a scoring champion in his rookie campaign when in 2007-08 he debuted with 12 goals. The forward added another 10 to his career total the following season, and scored six times in 2010-11.
 
The win moved the Saints to 2-3 on the season and kept their playoff hopes alive. The St. Clair men are next in action when then travel to London to take on the rival Fanshawe Falcons on Tuesday, Oct 11. The Falcons are also sitting with a record of 2-3 on the season.
