SHERIDAN 5, NIAGARA 0

OAKVILLE, Ont. - It wasn't that long ago that their season was hanging on by the thinnest of threads, but the Sheridan Bruins men's soccer team (4-2-2 OCAA) will go into the playoff on a three game win streak, after downing Niagara 5-0 in their regular season finale.

"We played the way we normally do," head coach Andrew Seuradge said. "After a couple early goals, we just let the game flow from there."

David Velastegui got the Bruins on the board in the 13th minute when he had a go at goal from 25-yards out and beat the Niagara keeper on the short side with a low, hard drive.

The Double-Blue would add to their lead five minutes later when Manny Morgado swung a cross into the area from the right wing over the head of a defender where Kelechi Ebuta was able to elevate and head it home.

Sheridan would hold a 2-0 advantage at halftime and though they monopolized early possession in the second half, they were unable to find another goal until the 67th minute.

Judah Hernandez was able to get in behind the Niagara defence and while his initial strike was saved, the rebound deflected right to Ebuta who tapped it into the open net.

Hernandez would go on to add a pair of markers in the 87th and 88th minutes that made the scoreline far more lopsided than it had been.

The club will now await the result of a match-up between Conestoga and Mohawk tomorrow to determine who they will play in the West Division playoff.

Seuradge says that while the very important element of who they will play is still to be determined, he hopes is players are already mentally preparing for their first true elimination game of the season.

"Our boys know that now is do or die," he said. "We'll go back to the drawing board, like always, get back into the game flow and hopefully we're ready to go this weekend."

Blue notes: Antonio Ilic and Marko Mijic combined for the club's third straight clean sheet. They will head into the post-season having not allowed a goal in a span of 277 minutes.
