CONESTOGA 2, MOHAWK 1

The Conestoga Condors fashioned a pair of victories over Mohawk College to finish the regular season in OCAA soccer Wednesday (Oct. 10).

The Conestoga women downed the Mountaineers 1-0 at Redeemer University College in Ancaster. Sam Fowles got the game's lone goal at the 18 minute mark. Caitlyn Schlegel picked up the shutout.

Conestoga finished the regular season with a 2-3-3 record while Mohawk was 2-4-2.

In the men's game the Condors rallied for a 2-1 victory. The Mountaineers opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a beautiful three-way passing play involving Dejan Dejanovic, Patryk Korbut and Colin Dougan who converted from close range. Mohawk dominated play in the first half, but failed to get a second goal and paid for it after the intermission. Daniel Lewis of Conestoga equalized with a deft chip in the 63rd minute. Then about 10 minutes later, Conestoga was awarded a free kick almost 30 yards out and John Wayland scored the game winner with a brilliant shot.

Mohawk finished the regular season with a 4-4 mark, while Conestoga wound up 5-2-1.
