FANSHAWE 2, REDEEMER 0

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe men's soccer team hosted the Redeemer Royals on Saturday for its second regular season game of the season. The Falcons won the match 2-0 to improve their record to 1-0-1.

The Falcons put the pressure on early, scoring in the sixth minute of the game on a break from forward Kingsley Ezennaya. Both teams played defensively for the rest of the first half, trying to capitalize on the other team's mistakes. The score remained 1-0 for Fanshawe after 45 minutes.

Fanshawe came out in the second half with more energy and took control from the Royals. In the 65th minute, a scramble in front of the Redeemer net led to Falcon Prince Ihekwoabo scoring Fanshawe's second goal of the game. There were few opportunities for the Royals to score with the defensive pressure that Fanshawe brought to the game.

Fanshawe captain Steve Hepton commented on the game. "It was a great effort from everyone on the field. We fought hard all game and hope to keep this momentum going into next week for a pair of big games versus Humber and Conestoga."

The Falcons next match will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 4:30 p.m. on the road against the Humber Hawks.
