SHERIDAN 4, MOHAWK 0

OAKVILLE, Ont. - Showing the ability to monopolize possession of the ball and an acute sense of finishing, the Sheridan Bruins men's soccer team (5-0-1 OCAA) scored four times in the first 40 minutes, and went on to shut out Mohawk 4-0 during Sheridan Homecoming.

"I thought we played well," Sheridan head coach Andrew Seuradge. "We did a good job of dictating the pace from the beginning, maintained possession, worked hard and got the goals we needed."

Nicholas Lindsay opened the scoring for the Double-Blue, taking the cross from Marlon Sequiera off the right wing and getting just enough of his left boot on it to sneak it in the right side of the net.

He added a second marker a short time later from the penalty spot, after a Mohawk defender handled the ball in the area. The keeper actually got his foot on Lindsay's attempt, but it hopped straight in the air and hit the cross bar to bounce down into the goal.

Lindsay completed the hat trick - his second of the season - with his most aesthetically pleasing goal of the three, controlling a pass in the air from Chris Divizio-Mendes and driving it to the net with his right foot off the bounce.

Darragh Roe added the final tally for the Bruins after Mathew Santos swung a ball from the half into the area, where Roe ran onto it and delivered a beautiful left-foot half-volley to the top corner.

Michael Adjei-Kwarteng kept the sheet clean for Sheridan, having made a couple critical saves in the first half.

On the first, Mohawk got an unobstructed shot from a pace or two inside the box, but Adjei-Kwarteng lunged to his right and kept the ball out of goal.

Later he came off his line to smother another Mohawk attack that had gotten into a dangerous spot.

The Bruins have just three days before their next and final home game of the regular season, a critical showdown against Fanshawe.

"It's going to be a tough game against Fanshawe," he said. "They're right behind us in the standings, so we know that we need to give this 100 per cent of our focus if we want to get a result."

Blue notes: Lindsay has now pushed his season goal total to 11, making him just the fourth individual in team history to hit double-digit scoring in a season. He will miss the club's next game on suspension however, after taking his third yellow card of the season late in the first half.
