DURHAM 2, GEORGE BROWN 0

TORONTO – The Durham College men's soccer team earned a hard fought 2-0 victory over the George Brown Huskies on Tuesday night in Toronto.

The freshmen combination of Kashiff De Jonge (Ajax, Ont.) and Karter Donnelly (Whitby, Ont.) was the key to the Lords' success as the pair hooked up on both of Durham's goals.

The Lords opened up scoring in the 35th minute when De Jonge knocked in a header off of Donnelly's free kick. In injury time of the first half, De Jonge would strike again when he received a through ball from Donnelly and slipped it past the George Brown goalkeeper. De Jonge has four goals this season and is amongst the leaders in OCAA freshman scoring.

Michael Ashfield (Whitby, Ont.) was in net for the Lords, making a number of clutch saves to preserve the shutout. This is Ashfield's fourth cleansheet of the season.

The Lords are 3-0 on the road this year and improve to 5-2-0 in conference play. They sit in a tie for third place in the standings with the Seneca Sting (5-1-0), who they will play on Saturday afternoon in Toronto. Durham and Seneca trail Centennial and Algonquin by one point for top spot in the conference.
