ST. LAWRENCE (K) 2, CAMBRIAN 1

SUDBURY, Ont. - After dropping a heartbreaking game against the first place Centennial College Colts on Friday, the St. Lawrence Vikings men's soccer team made the six-hour road trip to Sudbury, to take on the 0-5 Cambrian College Golden Shield.

After a rocky first half where the Vikings found themselves down by a goal, SLC would come out in the second half with renewed confidence and began taking control of the game.

After several chances to tie, Brett Kish would make a great run into the box and get tackled by a Cambrian defender, awarding the Vikings a penalty shot. SLC captain Matt Scrutton would take the shot, making no mistake and tie the game.

Still looking for more, the Vikings continued to pressure the Golden Shield, until midfielder, Ben Kennedy came up with a rocket of a shot, just inside the left post, from 20 yards away for a fantastic game winner.

"We didn't panic and stayed patient after our poor start to the game, which is a testament to the veteran leadership on this team. They are really starting to gel as a team and it showed in both games this weekend," said Vikings assistant coach Adam Lewis.

The 3-3 Vikings will play their final home game against the 2-4 George Brown Huskies on Friday, Oct. 4 at 3:30 p.m. Last year, SLC defeated George Brown 4-0 in what was the Vikings lone victory.
