FANSHAWE 3, SENECA 0

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe men's soccer team hosted the Seneca Sting on Saturday, Oct. 18 in a quarter-final playoff game. The winner of the match would head to the OCAA provincial championships next weekend hosted by Algonquin College. Fanshawe was victorious and won the match 3-0.

On a wet and windy field, the game started out very physical, with both teams trying to gain the momentum. In the 28th minute, Falcon defender Andrew Gravett carried the ball through the middle of the field and volleyed it up to Colin McArthur, who scored over the head of Seneca's goalie. The physical play continued, but the score remained 1-0 at the half.

In the 66th minute, Fanshawe's Milos Janikic took a shot from 30 yards out which was perfectly placed in the top right corner of the net, expanding the lead to two. Brandon Mendes added an insurance goal for the Falcons in the 87th minute, binging the score to 3-0.

With the win, the Falcons will head to Algonquin College next weekend for the OCAA provincial championship tournament. Their semi-final match up will be on Friday, Oct. 25 against the winner of the Algonquin Thunder and the Niagara Knights.
