MOHAWK 3, ST. CLAIR 3

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair men's soccer team did not get off to the start they wanted in their home opener. The Saints hosted the Mohawk Mountaineers at the Main Campus Field on Friday afternoon and came away with a 3-3 draw.

St. Clair was down 2-0 at the half as Mohawk scored two quick goals in the 18th and 22nd minute. However, St. Clair responded quickly in the second half with Stefan Milidrag (Windsor, Ont.) scoring in the first minute of the second half to make it 2-1 Mohawk.

Milidrag tied the score at two just eight minutes later on a nice feed from Jordan Lidia (Leamington, Ont.). The Saints dominated play for most of the second half but could not take the lead. St. Clair had 12 shot attempts in the second half compared to only six for Mohawk.

Mohawk went up 3-2 in the 78th minute on a turnover by the Saints. Once again, St. Clair responded with a great left footed strike by Yale Chadsey (Ottawa) on a perfect pass by Brian Santos (Leamington, Ont.) to make the score 3-3. Shane Beaton (Windsor, Ont.) was in net for the Saints and made some tough saves throughout the match to keep St. Clair within reach.

St. Clair will host the Fanshawe Falcons on Sunday at 4 pm at the Main Campus Field. Fanshawe is 0-2 on the season suffering both losses by one goal.

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Mohawk men's soccer team picked up its first point of the early OCAA season tying the St. Clair Saints 3-3 in Windsor on Friday.

Things looked great for the Mountaineers when they led 2-0 after the first half, on a pair of Anthony Halm goals.

However, the home side came storming back to tie the score at 2-2 by the midway mark of the second half.

Then with about 15 minutes remaining Lucas Raposo put Mohawk ahead 3-2, but that lead lasted just five minutes as the Saints closed out the scoring with the equalizer.

The Mountaineers, now 0-1-1,  move on to Sarnia, Ont., on Saturday afternoon to play the Lambton Lions, who are 1-0.

The Mohawk women fell to 0-2 as they were blanked 3-0 by St. Clair, now 1-0-1.

The Mountaineers visit Lambton on Saturday. The Lions enter the contest 0-1.
