ST. LAWRENCE (K) 2, GEORGE BROWN 2

TORONTO - The start was impressive, but not the finish.

Ahead 2-0, George Brown had to settle for a 2-2 draw with visiting St. Lawrence College of Kingston, Ont., in its Ontario Colleges Athletic Association East Division soccer game at Lamport Stadium.

Ryan Cabral (Toronto) scored his first two goals of the season as the George Brown striker put the Huskies ahead with goals at the 28 and 45-minute mark of the game. St. Lawrence tied it late in the final half with Sean Fernandez playing goal for the Huskies.

With the loss, George Brown has a record of 0-1-3 while St. Lawrence, in last place, is 0-4-2 and has played two extra games.

TORONTO - The sputtering Vikings women's soccer team recording a crucial 5-1 victory over the George Brown College Huskies on Saturday, Sept. 27. The two points moves the Vikings into a tie for fifth place overall in the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) East Division, with the top six moving onto OCAA qualifying games, for the quarter-finals.

After the teams exchanged goals in the 36th and 37th minutes, the Vikings scored four unanswered goals in the second half, with goals coming from Maureen Frost, Jessie Pennock, Hayley Sherman and Megan Simpson (2).

Currently the Vikings are tied with George Brown in the East, with the Huskies having to play tough games against Seneca and Algonquin College. SLC will face the Loyalist College Lancers in Belleville on Sept. 30, and then host the Fleming College Knights on Oct. 5 for the final regular season game.

With the men's team currently sitting last in the OCAA East, the Vikings needed to come away with a win over the Huskies, win their final game of the season against Fleming College, and get some help from other game results, in-order to have a chance at reaching an OCAA qualifying game.

George Brown would open the scoring, going up 2-0 into halftime. Andre Vandel would bring SLC to within one goal of tying it, and in the very last minute of play, Ben Kennedy would tie the game for the Vikings.

"Both goals we scored on Saturday were highlight reel goals. The guys showed a lot of guts to come back down 2-0 at half," said SLC head coach, Steve Douglas.

Both teams will play their final home game of the season on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. (women's game) and 3 p.m. (men's game).
