CAMBRIAN 2, ST. LAWRENCE (K) 0

KINGSTON, Ont. - The Vikings men's soccer team took to the field on Sunday, Sept. 21 in desperate need of a win to have any hope of clinching a crossover playoff game. Today was also their best chance at earning their first win of the season, as they faced the 0-2-1 Cambrian College Golden Shield.

Cambrian would come out with an aggressive offence, trying to utilize their speed to get in-behind the Vikings' defenders. The strategy worked at the 26-minute mark when a Cambrian striker would be sent in all alone, making no mistake in putting the Golden Shield up 1-0.
From there the teams would go back-and-forth for the duration of the game, with very few scoring chances at both ends of the field.

Cambrian scored their second goal in the 66th minute that sealed their 2-0 victory. The Vikings would come close in the dying minutes with a header that would graze the outside of the post and go wide.

"We did not create near enough chances to earn an important win today," said SLC head coach Steve Douglas. "There were some chances that came close, but for the majority of the game, we were not getting balls to the net."

As a result, the Vikings record moves to 0-4-1 and are in last place of the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) East Division, with only two regular season games remaining.

SLC will travel to Toronto on Saturday, Sept. 27 and face the 0-0-2 George Brown College Huskies. The final game of the regular season takes place Sunday, Oct. 5 at home against Fleming College.
