DURHAM MEN'S SOCCER LOOKING STRONG IN PRE-SEASON PLAY

DURHAM MEN'S SOCCER LOOKING STRONG IN PRE-SEASON PLAY

OSHAWA, Ont. – Durham College men's soccer head coach Dave Ashfield stresses the importance of hard work and functioning as a cohesive team in order to get positive results on and off the field. Early in preseason action, it seems that his squad is buying into his philosophy.

The Lords opened up preseason action with a 3-1 loss to the Niagara Knights, but have bounced back with two wins and a tie. Durham defeated Trent 3-0 in Peterborough last week, followed up with a 0-0 draw against St. Clair (Saturday) and a 7-1 win over Lambton (Sunday).

Against St. Clair, the Lords had plenty of scoring opportunities but did not have any luck as they were shutout with the Saints goalkeeper standing on his head. On Sunday against Lambton, the ball would bounce the Lords way as they scored seven goals and allowed just one.

With a balanced mix of veterans and highly rated recruits, Durham will be looking to make it back to the final four for the first time since Ashfield took over the program in 2014.

The Lords will evaluate their performance and train all week in anticipation for the ninth annual Campus Cup that is set for Wed. Sept. 6 against the UOIT Ridgebacks. Durham will open up conference play on the road against the Algonquin Thunder on Sept. 9.
