Algonquin Thunder is Triumphant Over Humber Hawks, East Gets Gold

Peterborough, ON – After a long match between the central division leader Humber Hawks and the east division leader the Algonquin Thunder, a winner is decided. Following two 45 minute halves, and two over time halves of 15 minutes each, the final soccer match of the day was decided via a penalty kick shootout with the Thunder making 7 successful shots on net and Humber making only 6.

The Algonquin Thunder now move to the OCAA Men's Soccer Championship Gold Medal match tomorrow, October 28, at 2:30 pm to face other top east division team, the Durham Lords. This will mark the first time since 2009 that two East division teams qualify for the Gold Medal match.

The Humber Hawks will now face the Niagara Knights, competing for the Bronze medal in the OCAA Men's Soccer Championship hosted at Fleming College. The Bronze medal match will take place at 12 pm following the consolation finals between the Fanshawe Falcons and the Sheridan Bruins at 9 am.
