ANOTHER SHOOTOUT LOSS FOR HUMBER IN WOMEN'S SOCCER

EDMONTON - The Humber Hawks women’s soccer team made a valiant comeback to tie the game at 3-3, but after overtime solved nothing, lost yet another shootout at nationals.

The Hawks lost to the host NAIT club in their first game at the 2010 CCAA women's soccer national championship.

The final score was 4-3 for the NAIT Ooks. Humber battled back from 2-0 and 3-1 deficits to tie the game, and move it into overtime. Neither team scored in the extra two frames, forcing the shootout.

Both teams scored twice to start, then Hawk goalkeeper Rose Mary Ormeno made a save. She then stepped up to put the Hawks in the lead, but was stopped. NAIT scored. Humber missed again, and then NAIT put it away with their final shot.

Humber did not allow a goal at last year's nationals, but lost twice in shootouts. They then lost the OCAA indoor title in a shootout as well. To say they are snake bit is an understatement.

Humber will play the Kwantlen on Friday at 4 p.m. ET. Humber must get some help, hoping that Kwantlen beats NAIT on Thursday. A win for the Hawks on Friday in this situation could put Humber in the gold medal game on Saturday.
