MOHAWK 2, REDEEMER 1 (FINAL)

MOHAWK 2, REDEEMER 1 (FINAL)

The Mohawk men and women each scored important victories over Mountain rivals Redeemer in OCAA soccer at Mohawk Sports Park Thursday (Oct.13).

The Mohawk women shaded Redeemer 2-1. Stephanie Brunett and Ashley Hagen scored for the Mountaineers. Hagen, the OCAA's overall scoring leader, now has 11 goals and is on a four game scoring streak. "Ashley could have had one or two more," said Mohawk co-head coach Renzo Castellani. Hagen also hit the crossbar late in the game. The first goal by Brunett was a beauty on a free kick from the top of the penalty area."I know she can curve the ball. She does it in practice, one after another, so that's why I called on Stephanie to take the free kick," said Castellani"

The coach said Redeemer didn't have many shots, but their goal (by Leesha DeWeerd) was a beautiful shot his goalie couldn't do anything about.

Mohawk's record is now 4-3. Redeemer slipped to 3-3.
