FANSHAWE 2, DURHAM 1 (FINAL - OT)

LONDON, Ont. - The Durham College women's soccer team's season came to end in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday afternoon as they were defeated by the Fanshawe Falcons 2-1 in overtime of their quarterfinal match-up.

With the win, Fanshawe advances to the OCAA final four championship while the Lords are eliminated from postseason play.

Trailing by one goal in the first half, freshman striker Leanna Fomenko scored to knot the game up at 1-1. After a scoreless second half, the game went into overtime with a trip to provincials on the line.

After one scoreless overtime frame, Fanshawe eventually broke the deadlock as they scored in the 114th minute, sending the Falcons to the final four championship.

Durham was without their captain and OCAA East Region scoring champion Jenn Sheehan in the line-up today due to a Saturday academic class conflict that could not be solved.

This is only the second time in 15 years that the Durham College women's soccer program has not qualified for the final four.

The Lords finish the year with only two losses as they went 6-2-3. Durham will look to rebound in the OCAA indoor soccer season as they are the defending silver medalists.
