OLIVERI NAMED NEW ALGONQUIN WOMEN'S SOCCER HEAD COACH

OLIVERI NAMED NEW ALGONQUIN WOMEN'S SOCCER HEAD COACH

After weeks of searching, the position of Algonquin women's soccer head coach has been filled. It is with great excitement that the Thunder Athletic Department, under the leadership of athletic director Ron Port, announces Dom Oliveri as the new women's soccer head coach.

Dom comes to Algonquin with an extensive soccer background and is currently the W-League head coach for the Ottawa Fury Soccer Club as well as the technical director of the youth girls program. Since being hired as the W-League head coach in 2011, he has led the Fury to their first-ever W-League championship and to a finals appearance in his first two seasons. Dom currently holds an Ontario provincial "B" license, and is currently in the process of completing his pro license with the Argentinean Soccer Coaches Association (ATFA).

"I am very excited about the opportunity to become the head women's soccer coach at Algonquin College," said Oliveri. "The Thunder women's soccer program has a tremendous history of success. I look forward to working with the players and to this new challenge."

Dom will take over the women's program effective immediately and has made it a priority to hire an assistant coach; Jasmine Phillips will assume the position. Phillips is a graduate of the Fury youth program, which led her to a scholarship at the University of Maine where she quickly became a key component to the success of the women's soccer program posting four impressive seasons that saw her amass a career 34-19-12 record in the NCAA. In 2009, she was an assistant coach with the University of Maine. Jasmine has been a member of the Fury's W-League for the past four seasons and captained the team to their first W-League Championship in 2012.

With a new coach in place the Thunder women's soccer program begins a new chapter. As always the goal of the program is to bring a CCAA national championship to Algonquin College.
