HUMBER SETTLES FOR SIXTH PLACE AT WOMEN'S SOCCER NATIONALS

CORNWALL, P.E.I. - Cegep Garneau, the RSEQ champions, held off the OCAA champion Humber Hawks for a 2-1 victory to finish in fifth place at this year's CCAA Women's Soccer Championship in Cornwall, P.E.I.

Garneau got off to a quick start as team captain Mélissa Roy scored in the fourth minute to give her team a 1-0 lead, which held up through the first half.

After Humber's Aliya Aziz received a yellow card, Gosselin stepped up and converted a penalty kick on Humber keeper Katerina Conde in the 54th minute to put Garneau up 2-0.

Keyla Moreno responded for Humber five minutes later, heading a ball past Garneau keeper Charlotte Boudreau to close the gap to one.

Humber continued to get more opportunities to score, but they couldn't get the equaliser.

Humber ends the tournament with a 1-3 record.
