HUMBER 3, MOHAWK 1

The reigning OCAA champions in soccer scored a pair of victories over Mohawk Saturday (Sep. 15) at Redeemer University College in Ancaster.

The Humber women got two goals from Angela Solarz in a 3-1 decision over the Mountaineers. The Hawks grabbed a 2-0 lead on goals in the 11th and 31st minutes. The score stayed the same until the 73rd minute when the Humber goalkeeper handled the ball outside her 18 yard box. Kaitlynn Staniuk stepped up for the free kick and notched her second goal in as many games.That gave the Mountaineers hope, but the Hawks sealed their win in the 86th minute.

Jody Hagen played an outstanding defensive game for the Mountaineers as she marked 5th year Humber star Keyla Moreno.

The Humber men blanked Mohawk 2-0. Shezan Singh and Nick Cisternino in the third minute of stoppage time at the end of the game, got the goals for the Hawks.

Both the Mohawk men and women are 1-1.
