OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College women's soccer team opened
their season at Vaso's Field with a tough 6-0 loss to St. Lawrence
College on Friday.
The Lords entered the game with a shortened bench as several
veteran players continue to work towards returning from preseason
injuries including 2012 OCAA all-stars Chelsey
Rogatinsky and Megan Arsenault who were
scratched from the line-up just prior to kick-off.
This led to opportunity for many first year players to make their
debut with the Lords including Riley Graham and
Vanessa Gudgin who showed outstanding play
throughout the game.
The Lords had opportunities to score but never seemed to catch the
critical break including a golden chance in the 62nd minute when a
free kick from Charmaine Bosse caught the
crossbar.
Brittany Sero also showed outstanding play for
the Lords as she worked hard to lead the young team from her
midfield position.
Goal scorers for St. Lawrence College included Sydney
Midwood (2), Megan Hutcheson,
Caitlyn Dunseasth, Megan Simpson
and Hailey Perrault.
The Lords will look to rebound on Tuesday night when they head to
Belleville to take on the Loyalist Lancers. Game time is 6 p.m.
