ST. LAWRENCE (K) 6, CENTENNIAL 0

KINGSTON, Ont. - The St. Lawrence College women's soccer team was looking for back-to-back victories on Friday afternoon, when they hosted the 0-4 Centennial College Colts on Friday, Sept. 27.

Centennial would get off to a quick start, keeping the Vikings in the defensive end and only allowing limited opportunities. But the SLC defence, along with goalkeeper Nicole Gaudette would hold strong, keeping the game scoreless leading into the break.

After a scoreless first half that featured turnovers and missed scoring opportunities, the Vikings opened the floodgates against Centennial, beginning with Sydney Midwood making no mistake on a penalty kick just two minutes into the second half.

Megan Simpson would follow up, scoring in the 57th minute. Megan Hutcheson would record three straight goals in the 58th, 69th and 75th minutes. Holly Brown would chip in for the Vikings sixth and final goal in the 81 minute, securing a 6-0 victory.

The victory advances the Vikings record to 5-1, keeping pace in the tight Ontario Colleges Athletics Association. The 6-0 victory was the third shutout for Gaudet.

St. Lawrence hits the road this Sunday, Sept. 29 to Sudbury, taking on the Cambrian Golden Shield at 12 p.m.
