ST. CLAIR 3, REDEEMER 2

The St. Clair College women's varsity soccer team earned a split on the road this weekend.

On Saturday, the Saints travelled to Ancaster, Ont. to take on the Redeemer Royals and came away with their first win of the season. In an exciting back and forth match, St. Clair managed to pull out a 3-2 win.

Laura Parent (St. Joseph's) put St. Clair up 1-0 in the sixth minute and the score was 1-0 at halftime. Redeemer tied it up early in the second half before the Saints took the lead again in the 64th minute on a nice goal by Nicole Hay (Wexford Collegiate-Toronto). However, Redeemer bounced back and tied it up in the 84th minute.

Just over three minutes later though St. Clair got the winning goal by Catherine Almeida (Holy Names) with less than five minutes remaining in the match. Macie Zurczak (Holy Names) played a solid game in goal in picking up the win. With the loss Redeemer's record fell to 1-6 on the season.

On Sunday, the Saints were in London, Ont. to take on the top-ranked Fanshawe Falcons. This game was rescheduled from earlier in the season after severe weather caused the orginal game to be postponed. Fanshawe is ranked third in Ontario and 13th in Canada.

St. Clair put up a great effort against the Falcons but ending up losing by a score of 2-0. Fanshawe scored both of their goals late in the first half. With the win the Falcons ended their regular season with a record of 5-1-2.

The St. Clair women ended their OCAA regular season with a record of 1-6-1 and will miss out on the playoffs this season.
