ST. LAWRENCE (K) 1, GEORGE BROWN 0

KINGSTON, Ont. - The 6-1 St. Lawrence College Vikings women's soccer team took on the 1-5 George Brown College Huskies, in the final home regular season game for the Vikings.

It would take 94 minutes until the first goal was scored, when Sydney Midwood stepped up and capitalized on a penalty kick from within the box to secure the 1-0 victory.

During the game, George Brown would play a very strong defensive game with several defenders back to support. The strategy proved frustrating for the Vikings who could not create many scoring opportunities.

The Vikings would apply pressure to the Huskies during the entire game, and were finally rewarded the final seconds of the game.

The win secures a spot for the Vikings in the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) playoffs. Currently in second place in the East Division, the Vikings still have to play the Algonquin College Thunder on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. (in Ottawa).

The playoff schedule will be confirmed on Monday, Oct. 7, with the Vikings for sure finishing in the top three in the East.
