CAMBRIAN 1, DURHAM 0 (OT)

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Durham College women's soccer team was upset on Saturday evening as the Cambrian Golden Shield earned a 1-0 overtime victory over the Lords.

With the loss, Durham is knocked out of OCAA post-season play with Cambrian advancing to the quarter-finals where they will face the OCAA West region champion Humber Hawks.

It took 98 minutes for the game's first goal to be recorded, when striker T.K. Rocca headed in the ball off a corner kick to give the Golden Shield a 1-0 lead.

Rocca provided Cambrian the majority of their offence throughout the regular season as she scored 10 of their 14 goals. Durham did a good job of containing the top-scorer for the majority of the game but were only able to hold her off the scoresheet for so long.

Durham controlled the majority of play throughout the game but were unable to beat Cambrian goalkeeper Ashley Bechard, who made a number of key stops in the late stages of the game and in overtime.

Consistency seemed to be the Lords problem, with their strikers rolling in and out of the game with injuries. Durham leading scorers Brittney Sero (Newcastle, Ont.) and Megan Arsenault (Oshawa, Ont.) played limited minutes due to injuries.

Lords goalkeeper Alicia Del Fuoco (Whitby, Ont.) had a solid performance in net for Durham, making a number of key stops.

Durham finishes the year with a 5-4-2 overall record, as they failed to score a goal in their final three games. The Lords will resume training for the indoor soccer season which begins in January.
