NEAL JOINS DURHAM WOMEN’S SOCCER

OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College women's soccer head coach Ramon McIntosh has announced that MacKenzie Neal of Brams United has committed to join the program for the 2014 season.

Neal, a native of Bolton, Ont., has proven to be a versatile player over her junior career having played almost every position besides goalkeeper. McIntosh is looking forward to having her make an impact in the OCAA next season.

"MacKenzie is a quality player and a 'class A' individual," said McIntosh. "She possesses the necessary intangibles needed to build any successful program while having the intelligence and technical skill sets on the pitch that will champion our team's philosophy moving forward here at Durham College."

Neal played the past two seasons with Brams United of the OYSL under head coach Fabian Pagani. In 2013, the team finished with a 7-2-5 record in Division I to finish in third place.

Prior to playing in the OYSL, Neal played four seasons with Caledon in the South Region premier division. Her teams had plenty of success winning a number of titles including the 2012 premier division, 2012 league cup and the Schwan's USA Cup championship, where she managed to score the game-tying goal in the finals.

In high school, she played for the Humberview in Peel region for all four seasons, where the Huskies advanced to the divisional semi-finals in every year she played. In 2011, the team won the divisional and regional championship, followed up by another divisional title in 2012. Individually, to finish off her career she received the athletic honours medal and was a nominee for the athlete of the year award in back-to-back seasons.

The Lords will open up training camp on Aug. 15 at Vaso's Field. The team will open up conference action on the road in Kingston, Ont., on Saturday, Sept. 6 as they take on St. Lawrence College at 1 p.m. That match will be followed by the Campus Cup against UOIT which is set to take place on Monday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m.
