DURHAM 3, GEORGE BROWN 0

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's soccer team came up with a big win on Thursday night as they shutout George Brown 3-0 at Vaso's Field.

By gaining three points, Durham (1-3-2) moves into a tie for fifth place in the OCAA east region standings with the Loyalist Lancers (1-2-2). The Lords leapfrog St. Lawrence (1-3-1) for the final playoff position, who are now trailing by one point. With two games remaining in the regular season, the Lords will look to continue their point streak and clinch a playoff spot.

With three goals, it was Durham's highest offensive output of the season. Cailey Giorgi (Oshawa, Ont.) got things rolling 41 minutes into the game as she scored her third goal on a shot that went through a crowd and past the George Brown goalkeeper.

In the second half, Ashley Weissbach (Oshawa, Ont.) took over the game, scoring a pair of goals to secure the victory for the green and gold. Her first goal came during the 58th minute when she streaked in from the left side and chipped one over the sprawling goalkeeper. Sixteen minutes later, Weissbach came in from the opposite side and put a bender in the top right hand corner. The two goals were Weissbach's first two of the season.

Jessica Prytulka (Kingston, Ont.) made four saves in goal for her second shutout of the season. The Lords fired 10 shots on target in the win.

Durham's next action is slated for next Thursday night when they host the Fleming Knights. Fleming is winless this year at 0-5-1. Game time at Vaso's Field is 6 p.m.
