FANSHAWE 7, LAMBTON 0

LONDON, Ont. - On Wednesday evening, the Fanshawe women's soccer team (4-0) defeated the Lambton Lions (0-3-1) by a final score of 7-0. The Falcons are still undefeated and in first place in the OCAA West Division, leading the division in both goals for (20) and goals against (1).

The Falcons came out as the aggressor with a number of shots on goal early in the game. In the 12th minute, Jade Kovacevic slid a ball past the Lambton goalkeeper to give Fanshawe the early 1-0 lead.

In the 34th minute, Kovacevic scored her second of the game and just four minutes later, set up her teammate Alexandria Peat to give Fanshawe a 3-0 lead.

Kovacevic scored the hat trick after a fantastic pass by midfielder Marisa Oliveira in the 40th minute. Oliveira then pulled her own number and scored on a rocket from outside the box over the head of the Lambton keeper to give the Falcons a 5-0 lead at the half.

In the 65th minute, Oliveira scored her second of the game in the top left corner of the net, putting the Falcons up six. Kovacevic notched her fourth goal of the game in the 85th minute as the Falcons went on to win 7-0.

Fanshawe returns to the field on Saturday, Sept. 24 when they host the Redeemer Royals (1-2).  Last week, the Falcons defeated the Royals by a score of 10-0.
