LONDON, Ont. - Nathan McFadden, Director of Athletics at Fanshawe College, announced today that Anthony Vassallo has been selected as the new head coach to lead the three-time defending OCAA champion Fanshawe Falcons women's soccer program.

Vassallo brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Fanshawe women's soccer program. He is the current Assistant Technical Director of Whitecaps London FC, as well as their High Performance Manager. Most recently, Vassalo found success coaching the Whitecaps U17 Girls and U17 Boys OPDL teams. He is a National B licensed coach who also brings experience working for Vancouver Whitecaps FC. As a player, Vassallo played professionally with Marsa FC in the Maltese Premier League, winning the league championship in 2006. He also played with the U18, U19, and U21 Maltese National Team and as a student-athlete at Jamestown College in the United States, where he was named Player of the Year in 2007. Vassallo graduated from Western's Arts Program in 2013, majoring in Health and Wellness Studies.

Head Coach, Vassallo said that "I am grateful for this opportunity and very excited to get started. Fanshawe has a great sporting tradition and history, and it is an honour to be part of the Falcons organization. I am looking forward to leading this team into the next chapter and building on the incredible success of the program."

Fanshawe's McFadden stated, "I am very excited about the addition of Anthony to our head coaching staff and believe he will be able to continue the tradition of excellence that has been created in our Falcons Women's Soccer program. He possesses the individual characteristics that we value and brings a wealth of student-athlete, and professional playing experience, coupled with coaching experience and proven success."
